2011!

That was quick.

Merged into a new year with out really sending the last one a goodbye...

2010 started with a low but built and built to an amazing finish in Sri Lanka and a white Christmas at home.

Well instead of dwelling on last year and writing about that...

So yesterday after a coffee and a marmite sandwich i was sitting in Starbucks in Bath with my laptop and a craving of mountains and snow. . . checked my online banking... score! had enough for a flight somewhere....

Canadas booked...

Home 1 week in...

Home now... Its cold.

Sri Lanka ended up drying my funds up so I checked my money and jumped on the next plane home. Quite a spontaneous move but its worked out pretty well. Landed in London to have a new Job starting the next week.

In the last 10days of the trip I moved about. Once the guys left me I also packed my bags up and jumped in a tuktuk to the beach town of Hikkaduwa... and two nights later left on the train for Kandy via Colombo as it was way to busy and full of tourists.

The train ride was one in a million, constantly climbing and ducking in and out of hills and mountains as you travel from Colombo Fort to Kandy.
Spent a night and Kandy to move on to a week of seeing the sights the hill country in Lanka had to offer... weather changed alot, got a lot cooler and wetter... but saw some amazing sights and had some memorable experiences in a tuktuk.

Ended back in Kandy after Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa and somewhere els... Kandy was wet and cold. and I was bored with my own company and skint... so I came home. And here I am

One week back and im sitting here at my new job. (on a break)... at the Instow Arms

Trying to piece together a Portfolio as i am now planning, after way to much thinking, of applying to Uni again to start fresh on a new course... Graphics?

Sri Lanka - 3weeks in...

Im 3 weeks in now. sorry I havnt really updated much, its been pretty hard to find connection to the internet with the guys laptops and now they they've gone back home i had to venture about to find a internet cafe. So this is where i write from, 'Hikkaduwa Internet Shop' South Sri Lanka.

Ive been keeping log in a now, bursting moleskin book, but i dont have it with me so i cant look back to what ive done and update on here... As ive had such an inspirational amazing trip i shouldnt need to look back and jog my memory. So since my last small up date ive....

Surfed nearly everyday, twice a day for the last 3 weeks. Early wake up from Fergs bang on the door every morning no later then half 5 :/ and then again 10minuets later as noone gets up. . .

Surfed spots called, Lazy Lefts, Rams, Plantations, Coconut Point, Welligama, The Rock (Kabalana) and Marissa. Mainly reef/rock below you with hundreds of different fish swimming about, and the odd turtle popping its head up to see whats going on.

Obviously when there wasnt surf as the wind picked up we had most of the day to find stuff to do. must admit most of that time was chilling out in front of the guest house 'getting our bronze on'. But some of the days some of us jumped in a tuk tuk and went on trip.

Spent some time in a spice garden learning what you can put in a curry... great... then a massage and we ended up all smelling like a curry :/...

We experienced a thrilling boat trip with some local fishermen where we went...fishing.. you may think 'oh yeah just fishing in a boat' well this boat was maybe 20ft, wooden, 50+years old, 13 of us on it, 12miles out in a storm... Okay it wasn't a big storm but the rails of the boat were tipping under as we tried to retreat back to the shore.

Other things did happen, but im running short of time in this internet shop...

So il let you know whats happening now... Im in Hikkaduwa for another day, then i move on north. Firstly to the country capital Colombo, via train, which is meant to be... an experience. There i will only spend one night as its not the best place to walk about...(so i heard) from there i will be jumping on another train to a anccient town called Sigiria where i will explore for a few days and then rail it on to Kandy. The train ride is one of a kind as it winds its way up in to the hills and mountains over looking tea plantations and paddy fields. Perfect to snap up on film!

From Kandy to Sri Lankas most well known mountain, 'Adams Peak' where i will climb the steps to the ancient temple at the top to watch the sunrise.

Then back to Colombo and home :)

I will upload pictures when im back home i promise!

il try and update soon!

Sri Lanka (Week One)

Well im here... one week down, still not sure how many to go.

Quick update

Its been an epic week of new crazy experiences...
Started off with a memorable beginning with a deep gash in my finger from my bedroom window 10minuets before we planned to leave home. Nice.

Got here 26+hours later to a sleepy curry before a bed full of mossies.

Spent the fist few days hanging on for dear life being transported between beaches in the tuk tuks finding a good break to surf. The heat has been bearable with the sea breezes but there has been times where we could only manage a walk across the road to the shop (hut) before it was to hot to move and we would hurry back to the shade of the palms in the garden.

Went for a couple of walks in to the jungle to, ermmm see things... ended up spotting some monkeys swinging from trees and a meter long Guana lizard chilling in the shade.

Burnt...

Peeling...

Spots we have surfed so far... Welligama, Lazy Lefts, The Rock and Marissa but many more to see...

Will write more soon, but short for time... will put some pics up soon aswell...
